This is Youngster Year
Youngster Year is first and foremost a platform for musicians to discuss the art they create. Who hasn’t listened to a new artist and thought, “I wish I knew more about who this person was, or at the very least, how they wrote this song?” Probably a lot of people, but this multimedia platform exists for those who seek to know more. Youngster Year is more than just a podcast or an interview show — it’s a celebration of music of all kinds, those who make it, and those who enjoy it.

Meet the Host
Jack Scypinski is not one to shy away from a challenge or a good story — especially when the two meet head-on. A strategic communicator by profession and a music journalist by passion, he’s just as comfortable in a room of foreign military leaders as he is backstage at an All-American Rejects show. He’s scaled fences, spent long nights in cramped green rooms and traveled thousands of miles in the name of music. He’d move mountains to interview the next band if his arms were strong enough.
Born in Washington and raised outside of Portland, Oregon, Jack is a child of the Pacific Northwest. While growing up, his parents exposed him to music of all kinds, from jazz to grunge to Irish folk. His first concert was a children’s show at the Kennedy School in Portland featuring The Dandy Warhols as the headlining act.
Jack graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in English and now serves as a public affairs officer for the U.S. Navy. His travels have taken him from Southeast Asia to the Middle East, across Europe and to all four corners of the United States. He is currently based in San Diego.
Jack has been interviewing musicians and producing music-related content since his sophomore year of college, known by his alma mater as “Youngster Year.”
